Hello there,

Sarah is a Canadian media personality and co-author, with John Mackey, of Vancouver: The Unknown City (Arsenal Pulp). After completing her MA in Political Science at UBC, she won a Graduate Fellowship to intern at the BC Legislature, where she wrote debate notes for government ministers and answered their mail. The natural progression, of course, was to become a fashion buyer, which she did for two years, travelling the world for international chain Aritzia managing budgets in excess of $10M at age 23. She then went on to Vancouver magazine where she started as an intern and became the youngest Associate Editor in Canada, while also volunteering as the President of the Western Magazine Awards Foundation, and turning it around.

In her third year at Vancouver it won magazine of the year at the Canadian National Magazine Awards. Bancroft then launched the Vancouver and Calgary bureaus of Toronto-based FASHION magazine, where she worked for six years. Meanwhile, she founded VitaminV.ca in 2004 with a partner, which was the first web-native magazine in Western Canada. It became VitaminDaily.com and won Best Website and Best Website Design at the National Digital Media Awards in 2009. VitaminDaily was acquired by Glacier Media Inc. in 2013. Bancroft is fluent in English and French and all matters sartorial. She resides in Vancouver and the Okanagan Valley with her husband Murray, a food stylist, and their two young daughters, Emmanuelle and Charlotte. She is the co-founder and owner of Birch Block Vineyard.
